It is with great sadness thar we report the passing of our friend and fellow musician, Aidan Cunningham. He was a founding member of the Irish Steel Guitar Association in 2001 and played most years at our annual featival.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of the event and played most years on the Sunday afternoon as well as the jam sessions after the main event.
He was a great family man and over the years introduced us to his wife, Bridie and daughters Ciara and Aoife, all accomplished musicians and singers who played with him on his Sunday set.
It was obvious that he enjoyed every minute of his time both on stage and mixing with his many friends and audience members at the festival; he always had time to stop and chat to anyone who wanted a few minutes of his time.
He was also well known and respected by many who knew him from his time playing with many of the Irish country music artists over a number of years.
We offer our heartfelt condolences to Bridie, Ciara and Aoife at this sad time and to all his extended family. We will miss his presence in our Steel Guitar family both for his playing ans his friendship over the years.
Rest in peace, dear friend, until we meet again.
