Directions to the Green Isle Hotel

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

There are a number of public transport options from Dublin Airport to the Green Isle Hotel.

1.
Airport Hopper operates a bus service from the airport to Tallaght and stops at Newlands Cross. It will leave you at the Topaz petrol station close to Bewley's Hotel at Newlands Cross and it is about a 15 minute walk to the hotel from here - not recommended if you are carrying a steel or suitcases without wheels. The service operates once an hour.

When you get off the bus follow the footpath in front of Bewley's Hotel up to the crossroads, turn right and continue on the footpath along the side of the Naas dual carriageway. Just after the Lidl supermarket the footpath veers right into a green area.

At the other side of the green area you will come to a road with another road directly across from you. The hotel is about 400 yards (360 metres) along this road.

The adult single fare is €11 and the return fare is €19. There is a 20% discount if you book online.

The Airport Hopper website timetable is here. Get off at the "NEWLANDS CROSS" stop.

2.
The Airlink 747 and 757 services goes from the airport through the Port Tunnel to various locations in the city centre. The fares are €7 for a single or €12 for a return. Take the 747 bus and get off at the Central Bus Station (Busarus), turn right at the exit and right at the corner of the building and you will see a stop in the middle of the road for the Dublin tram service Luas.

You want to go to the Red Cow stop. Ticket machines are at all Luas stops and the single fare is €3.20. At the Red Cow stop it is recommended to get a taxi to the hotel, about a 5 - 6 minute drive away.

There are normally taxis waiting at the stop, the fare is about €12.
the Airlink website is here and the Luas website is here

3.
There are two Dublin Bus routes from the airport to the city centre, routes 16 and 41.

The 16 goes to the southside of the city but you can get off in O'Connell Street and the 41 terminates in Lower Abbey Street (off O'Connell St.). There is a luas stop in Lower Abbey Street and follow the directions as in option 2.
The Number 16 time table is here and number 41 time table is here

Alternately, you can take the number 69 bus from Hawkin's Street to the door of the hotel. To get to Hawkin's Street from O'Connell St. or Lower Abbey St., go across O'Connell bridge and turn left. The river Liffey is on your left and a short distance ahead, on the right is Hawkin's St. Get off at stop "6003, Boot road, Green Isle Hotel". The only drawback is that this bus only runs once per hour.

The fare for these three bus routes (16, 41 & 69) is €3.30, you pay the driver on the bus and it is recommended that you have the exact fare, the driver does not give change.

The Number 69 time table is here

4.
The Aircoach Route 700 service runs from the airport to the southside of the city and stops in O'Connell St - check with the driver. From O'Connell St. you can take the Luas from the Lr. Abbey St. stop or route 69 bus {see above).

The aircoach website is here.
The fares are €7 for a single or €12 for a return.

DRIVING FROM THE AIRPORT or FROM THE NORTH VIA THE M1

5.
Follow the signs for the M50 motorway going south. After about 12 miles (20Km) take exit 9 for the N7 signposted for Limerick, Cork and Waterford. Stay in the lane for Limerick, Cork and Waterford and you will end up on a dual carriageway heading west. The new flyover at Newland's Cross is now complete and you can go over this flyover and about one mile further on you will see a roadbridge ahead crossing over the dual carriageway. Take the sliproad to the left signposted for Grange Castle and Kingswood.

At the roundabout at the top of the sliproad take the third exit to drive over the bridge and at the roundabout at the far side of the bridge take the third exit signposted for L1003. You are now heading back towards town but on a road parallel to the dual carriageway. Continue on this road until you come to the hotel on your right.

6.
Alternately you can keep to the left of the flyover moving left into the lane for Tallaght and Clondalkin, continue on and turn right at the next traffic lights, goint under the flyover.

After you turn right you will pass the Maldron Hotel (formerly Bewleys Hotel) and a Topaz petrol station on your left and shortly after will come to a set of traffic lights.

Turn left at the lights on to Boot Road. Follow the road (it bends a little to the left) for a few hundred yards until you see a green area on you left. At the green area there is a road on your right, turn onto this road and the hotel is about 400 yards on your left.

If you miss this turn you will end back on the dual carriageway, just keep turning left until you pass Bewley's Hotel and the Topaz station again and repeat.

7.
If you are coming from the south you will either be on the Rosslare / Wexford road, the N11/M11 or, coming from Waterford, Limerick or Cork you will approach Dublin on the N7 (Naas Road).
The N11/M11 merges with the M50 northbound. Continue on and exit the M50 at exit 9 keeping in the lane for Limerick, Cork and Waterford, continue on and proceed as per option 5 or 6 above.

8.
If you are driving from the south on the N7 you will pass the Green Isle Hotel on your left hand side as you approach Newlands Cross. About 300 - 400 yards later there is a turn on to Boot Road on the left. You will need to watch for this turn, it is not signposted. Take this left turn and almost immediately take another left turn. The hotel is about 400 yards on your left.

I recommend checking these directions with Google Maps and Streetview to become familiar with the streets and turns.
